Dr. E. Lynn Jacobowitz and Adonia K. Smith, ASL Rose Co-owners, Frederick, MD "CHAMP! A fun way to cross bridge between ASL and English using ASL handshapes!" Amy June Rowley, Assistant Professor, Department of Modern Languages and Literature California State University, East Bay "As a professional involved in the ASL field, I am always looking for new ideas to bring to the ASL classroom. I played this game and thought it was fantastic. It was easier to play than I thought which makes it ideal for almost all skill levels. It is a great way for the novice signers to learn ASL signs and a great way for native signers to play a game in their own language. This is a tool I recommend for any ASL class and any class with deaf children! I will most certainly buy this for my home and definitely suggest you do too!" |

is played!

The
philosophy behind ASLingo is for school-age children
and students of ASL, hearing or deaf, with proper guidance
from experienced ASL users, to utilize their cognitive
and perceptive skills with their knowledge of ASL in
an expressive and receptive manner. Instead of being
too linguistic or didactic about teaching ASL in a structured
enivornment, the children and adults can have fun together
while learning pragmatically.
Most of all, the players are engaged and delightfully
attending to a bilingual game of bingo without stress.
How many of us have learned basic economics, vocabulary
and concepts through famous board games while cherishing
the fond memories of playing with family and friends?
ASLingo is no difference and strives to enhance the
collective learning experience for players of all ages. |
